High Performance Fiber Optic Microwave Photonic Links Enable Low Noise, Ultra-broadband Operation to 65 GHz

Microwave Photonic Systems is proud to announce the MP-8000 series of Microwave Photonic Links. The MP-8000 product line represents the most extensive portfolio of Externally Modulated Microwave Fiber Optic Links commercially available. The product line includes 10 models of wideband Externally Modulated Transmitters and companion High Responsivity Optical Receivers supporting RF frequencies from HF to V Band.

The transmitters utilize a high efficiency Mach-Zehnder Lithium Niobate (LiNbO3) electro-optic modulator, coupled with a high power Distributed Feedback (DFB) laser diode centered at 1550 nm or on customer specified ITU wavelengths. The transmitters can be configured with both X-cut or Z-cut modulators to address almost any technical and programmatic re¬quirement. The laser bias and temperature stability are microprocessor controlled and Modulator bias is achieved using a proprietary advanced ditherless bias control loop. These features, coupled with the MP-8000 line of companion photonic receivers assures low noise and high dynamic range link performance over varying frequency, temperature, and optical loss budgets.

These transmitters and receivers can be configured as stand-alone flanged mounted devices or supplied in MPS’s 1911 1RU and 1914 4RU high density, hot swappable plug-in rack chassis.
